Designer's Description ... Parabolic double-curvature, hyperbolic paraboloid tensile structure consisting of two symetrically-opposing compression rings, pulled apart by four guy strands and covered with a membrane fabric tensioned in two directions to create a semi-rigid assembly. That's a mouthful. But the designer, Mark Krawczynski, is an architect who helped design the Sydney Opera House, so he understands this stuff and why it makes a great protective shelter.

Materials ... Latest in technology, highest in dependability.

• FABRIC COVER is a computer generated double curvature patterned stain resistant mash fabric of high density, non tearing UV resistant polyethylene. This is the latest in UV stabilized protective mesh technology. This gives the shelter incredible strength and flexibility to combat the toughest conditions. It's so tough you can stick a pen through it and the hole will almost completely disappear afterward. 95% fabric stops hail stones up to 1" in size due to its 40% more material making it 60% stronger than the 90% fabric.The 95% mesh fabrics are guaranteed for 12 years under the Australian sun, the 90% for 10 years and the solid fabrics for 5 years.

• COLORS are not just applied, but integral with the mesh fabric, so your shelter will hold its beauty for a very long time. A simple spray of the garden hose is usually all it takes to keep it clean.

• FRAME is made of strong and light weight molded aluminum tubing with stainless steel mounting hardware and 6m UV stabilized nylon cables. Take it down and put it up anywhere you like, ideal for sloping or uneven surfaces. There are no gutters to clean, it will never need painting and will never rust.

Installation DYI... Includes four perimeter anchor points plus two mid-span hinge-pin anchors. These points can be widened or narrowed up to a foot on larger models, to suit the location. Fabric stretches out with no wrinkling by tightening the 4 perimeter ropes. Its strong enough to withstand 70 mile/hour wind gusts. Easy to install. Requires only a drill, wrench and screwdriver. All attachment hardware (what little there is) is supplied with the shelter. Just follow 'easy to install instructions' written in grammatically readable English. Storage ... Most owners setup the shelter as a permanent structure, and for infrequent storage the Standard Storage method is easy for dismantling and re-installing in minutes. For transporting to the beach or storing in more compact places, the Extra Fold Option is a necessity. See Options & Accessories for a few pictures.

• Standard Storage - When cables are detached, each ring of the 10' x18' model folds together (with fabric still attached). In this folded form, pull the fabric sleeves up toward the arc and remove the 4 straight sections of pipe to bundle everything into a flat shape 10' across x 5' high x 6" thick. Hang it on the wall of your garage.
  
• Extra Fold Option - For a small additional cost we add the ability to fold each arc in half as well (with fabric still attached). Now the storage size is reduced to 8' accross x 3' high and 10" thick to fit in your van of smaller storage places.
  
• Banana Bag - This can be purchased in addition to the above Extra Fold Option to store the Sydney Opera Shade dust free and make it easier to carry to the beach.
